<p class=Thank you Melissa. I just wanted to express my sincerest gratitude in relation to the empathy and understanding you demonstrated yesterday. I really thought that reaching out to lawyers was going to be daunting and confronting but I really felt at ease. So thank you !

About

Melissa is a highly experienced personal injury lawyer based in our Shellharbour office. She grew up in the Illawarra and is known by her peers and colleagues as being determined, supportive, compassionate and has a down-to-earth nature.

What she does

Melissa has served our community as a personal injury lawyer for almost 15 years, in cases ranging from product and public liability, motor vehicle accidents, medical negligence, nervous shock (aka pure mental harm); workers compensation, work injury damages, bullying & harassment and assault claims, to total permanent disability (TPD), income protection and life insurance claims and more.

“I consider myself a ‘human lawyer’, with the ability to deliver on the detail whilst seeing the big picture. I give my time to get to know my clients, really listen to and empathise with them by putting myself in their shoes. It’s about building a mutual trust - so they can comfortably discuss their problems and ask any questions, knowing I’m on hand to support them without the stuffiness and provide straight-forward & practical advice without the legal jargon. For me, everything centres around the client and bringing the best of what’s possible to them.”

Who Melissa acts for

Melissa helps injured people who have suffered loss and who are in need of compensation, whether they have been wronged by or are simply entitled by way of insurance.

Having advised major insurers on product and public liability claims in the past, Melissa offers a broad outlook and strategic insights.

She is an Approved Legal Representative of the Independent Review Office and her representation in workers compensation claims is fully funded - allowing access for everyone.

Qualifications

Melissa studied at the University of Wollongong, graduating with a double agree in Law and Arts (Italian), followed by a Diploma in Legal Practice.

In 2021, Melissa completed the NSW Legal Practice Management Course, honing her ability to better serve clients in a changing world that demands speed, quality, and value.

Community

Melissa volunteers her time by assisting at her kids school and for the past few years has been managing children’s soccer and basketball teams.

Outside of Kells

Away from work, Melissa loves being with her big family and is passionate about her children being involved in social and sporting activities including soccer, basketball, dance, cheerleading, swimming and piano. She loves the beach all year round and art -  especially appreciating the creativity, imagination, and innovation of interior design & architecture.
